Bryan - in the style of max and paddy.. 'how dare you!'.. Solid works is the enemy.
[rant]
The 3D CAD is the work of Autodesk Inventor (Jim), much the same as solid wanks but with way better company ethics! I'll elaborate.. TODAY (genuinly!) i have been offered a job (again) at 40k-50k starting to go work for solidworks, however, being in the game i know of their tactics.. They offer you a very attractive employment package to get you out of working for the competition (Autodesk), at the end of a short run in your new job, you are ditched and unemployed. The trouble is once you quit to work for the competition, you shut the door behind you, no going back. Cheep way to get ahead when you can't beat the competition on product alone. I know someone who did this fisrt hand, it was a little like the turning of Anakin Skywalker except far less dramatic and without lightsabers (sadly).
Thats why i dislike solidworks Bry, their CAD systems are very good, but as a company they suck.

Greg - thanks bud, i know you walk the path of audio, be good to have a natter at some point. You doing something for MR.G's dred mobile i believe?
Update.. after much sawing, drilling and gluing, the first boxes are now made, and fit well. They are the 2 sealed enclosures for the 2 JL8w3's which sit in the bulkhead behind the driver and passenger seats, firing forward (same setup as MR2). Took much longer to measure up and design than to build and fit. Will take some pics tomorrow when the glue is dry and the boxes are finish sanded. They will run midbass down to around 80-70Hz then filter out and let the 12 take on the real lows with its own amp. The 8's are the red line on the graph below (bass box pro), the ported 12 is the green line which has a F3 of 26Hz, so should go real low! What i tried to achieve here is midbass that will hit really hard, and low end bass that can get down low. You usually only get one or the other but hopefully i should have both, thats the plan anyhow.
Dave

Managed to get the 8" sub boxes finished and in a few weeks back now but hadn't got a chance to upload the pics until now. I've also been working on modding the A pillars for tweeter location as they seem to yeild the best sound staging, got busy with the fibreglass as i wanted a clean look ..
Space for encolsures
Built from CAD design
In location
Cut and edged Nissan trim
Perfect fit as per CAD design, total stealth no flash install
Tweeters in A pillars (not complete) ..
Stock A pillar
Position located for tweeter
A little fabric for shape
Fibreglassed ready for filler and finish sanding once fully cured
MDF rings cut ready for mid woofer custom pods
probably won't get much more done over the next few weeks as it's into the spray shop today for full paint and bodykit finally
Will probably be fitting and tuning most of the audio kit upto and over the xmas break, then a few mods and engine dress ready for the shows next yr..

awsome mate i didnt know u were a fibreglass god aswell as a sound god, i could do with my a pillar reworking in the future and was about to get some prices from the composite company we use at work
I'm no god at either bud, but i've done more than my share of fibre glass fabs in the past. It's actually pretty easy to do the A-pillars - i don't mind giving you a hand if you want. I've got my door pods to build up this weekend if my resin arrives in time
