Ok so the exhaust is on, and sounding very nice to my ear. I took the car to work today to aclimatise to how loud it drove with bungs fitted - was quite loud. So tonight, after some incouragement from our Mr G i took the bungs off for a comparison. I've never been afraid of making some noise, so leaving them off me thinks
^Just been for a ride out without the bungs in..
Total note change, sound is really deep and loses all of the bark. Not liking this at all, way too much drone at 80mph and super loud at idle too. Bungs going back in before tomorrow or neighbours will be taking shots at me on my way out to work!
Will grab some vid tomorrow at work and get it posted..

I've had a few hi flow systems on the two cars with the VQ35 in and on all occasions i have had a bad drone in the cabin. I just learnt to drive the car in the rev spots where the drone was at its least
BTW don't start spending fortunes on dyno matting the boot and floor pan, i did and it didn't work, i had better sound deadening results with a bit of decent underlay.

Interesting and timely comment Tom, my next point of investigation is sound deadening (not due to exhaust, but preperation for audio install). What dynamat did you try and what underlay did you get best results with if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks

I put underlay on top of it just in the rear floor pan (which you dont have) and the floor of the boot.
It probably stopped only about 10-20% of the noise but added a lot of weight

I think dynamat extreme is meant to be the best product on the market and what i had 'ear marked'. I have two boxes of this stuff already for the doors and boot lid. Its quite shocking that after that AND underlay you only got a max reduction in noise of 20%. I would have expected a lot more for all the money/work involved - not cool at all when you consider the extra weight as you say. The 350 picks up a LOT of road noise.
I consider myself forewarned, will delve a little deeper into this with the audio forums but i don't think there is anything better available.
Thanks Tom, PS had another look at ther roof pics - sometimes a second look changes your mind - didn't at all - looks spot on.

Think this caught the note quite well.
