i hate dark nights, i have spent a couple of hours this afternoon finishin off the wiring side of the head unit and rear speakers, the headunit is all in and working and will get the rear speakers and hopefully the subs up and running tomorrow

had another 7hrs workin on the install today and it is nearly there now the rear speakers are all in and workin, the amp and subs are up and running and all the wiring for the second amp is also in place.
i had a nightmare trying to find somewhere to mount the amps as there is absolutly no space suitable, in the end i opted to remove the passenger seat and mount it under there


- que next problem the seat frame has a large metal plate welded to the rear which would interfere with the amp so out came the grinder and hammer and eventually it was removed, now the seat adjusts freely without fouling the amp. There was also an ECU type box under there wich i had to relocate behind the glovebox

next job was amp wiring i found an existing grommet in the engine bay which was perfect in every way except for accessability, about 45mins later lots of swearing and several skinlles knuckles the power cable was through


next task was to run the new rear speaker cables and the sub cables - this required removal of the side interior trim and seatbelts

having never looked at the rear speakers before we gambled on them being the same as the fronts -5.25" - They Were 4" so out came the jigsaw and MDF and i knocked up a couple of rings and mounted the new speakers


finally tidied the car up and connected the subs

Excellent work Greg, did you tune the subs in yet or are you waiting to get the front amp in first?

Still sounds cool even half finished.....

I had a listen yesterday at lunch time. The subs definately tune very low and still punch well too - a great combination. The cabin gains are tuned very low due to the size of the cabin, might be worth experimenting with different sub positioning to optimise on this. The rockfords sound pretty clean too. I think the system will sound great once it's all in and tuned. I think those subs might puch a little more too with the h.u. and amp set up. When is the other amp going in guys?

It still hasn't arrived yet.... ........a bit annoying as i paid promptly over a week ago.........think it will go in over the weekend if it arrives in time.........
Think Greg has already prepared the cables etc........

yep most of the cables are already there, just need tyding up a little, speakers are already in the doors and just need the new cables running to them and it should all be up and running
