best drift car is the S15 Chasis by far.. with a bulit proof 400BHP small turbo SR20 engine in it the chasis is able to hold hige drifts and can transvers from drift to drift better than any car out there... but there only available on imprt.. a good car to start with is a cheap S13 or S14 untill you get god enough not to bin the S15...

A few worrying snippets of misinformation here. The S15 comes out of the factory with 250bhp not 400bhp. It has exactly the same SR20DET in it as the S14 but with a ball bearing T28 turbo as apposed to a 'standard' T28 as found in the S14. The chasis is basically the same as the S14 also. The S15 is also equipped with a 6 speed box which is weaker than the S14 box and the s14 box is often retro-fitted to S15s to avoid gearbox failures.

Basically the S13(silvia not RS13),S14 and S15 are basically equal out of the factory for drift capabilities.

And if you want an engine that is easy to yield high power out of yet use on a daily basis, try an RB26DETT (Skyline GTR engine) or a 2JZ-GTE (Supra TT engine) Both can be tuned to 500bhp and beyond on stock bottom ends.

The SR20DET is a fantastic engine though that responds well to bolt on mods and 280bhp is easily attainable. Serious engine work is required tho to go above the 350bhp marker.

hayden if you actually read it i didnt say it came out of the factory with 400BHP im talking about setting it up for drifting.. if you tuned it to 400BHP with a fast response turbo. the chasis is far more stiffer than the S13,S14 and has alot better weight distribution... it would be a great car for drifting and would be ideal for someone whos learning as other cars are harder to drift.

the SR20 has been run to over 400WHP on the standard bottom end on crappy american pump gas.. if you read everthing iv put iv recomended the skyline as a great base for a rapid drag car that will maintain a degree of on road drivability.... i also pointed out that a Dog engament box would be required for drifting..

i didnt recomend the S15 for drag..

Sorry raceworx, but when you post "with a bulit proof 400BHP small turbo SR20 engine in it " ,most people will tend to think that you mean the car comes with 400bhp out of the factory

Trust me the chasis is basically the same as the S14 but with a different wings,headlamps and bonnet S14 exhausts even fit the S15 from the cat back the cars are that similar Please listen to my words as I've acutally owned an S14 and have been into 200SXs/Silvias for years not just when Max Power decided to plaster their pages with drift cars recently

Agreed with your follow on comments tho, the 200SX makes an excellent all round performance car - Amazing drifting ability, a real drivers car, tuneable, turbo'd and of course RWD It has average dragging ability as it struggles to put the power down off the line unlike 4wd cars etc If you want a good RWD drag racer get an MR2. The engine over the rear axle really helps to get the power down and lower the 60fts!

lol max power.. sorry i think its a funny name.. theres a problem having the MR2 as a drift car once it is drifting having all that weight at the back means the inertial drift s extreamly hard to controll as theres no weight over the steering wheels.. if your good you can do it but for someone just starting its a really hard car to drift..

MR2s dont make good drift cars as they have the tendency to snap out and spin without much provocation. 3 revisions by toyota and they still couldnt sort out this issue. As you said, it probably is caused by the 'different' weight distribuition of having a mid-mounted engine.
