bit of an update:
took the car to Richy at Performance Autoworks this morning
to get the leaking damper swapped over for the good 1 i ordered from K-Sport
and a full 4 wheel laser suspension geometry setup set to fast road spec

big thanks to Richy who said the geometry was way off, its totally transformed the car, it was an absolute pleasure to drive back
seems to have fixed the bouncy rear end too :)
Will definately be taking my cars there again

As long as the quality is ok....a filter is a filter dude..........i have done a lot of research into the cost, effectivness and build of filters.......and the conclusion is as long as the right materials are used they will perform fine ,regardless of price....i have £10.00 cone filter on my Vehi-cross which has the same cotton media as jetex,K&N,Green etc.......a lot of filters are produced in the same factories in the Far-East......and then re-branded and distributed worldwide.....The kit looks good Mart.......it may be either a play on "Kakimoto" or be a real one......one of the Kanji characters may be a "K"....who knows........either way it should be fine........:)

not updated this for a while...

small updates,
fixed the ciggerette lighter, due to missing fuse and, bare wires shorting it out once replaced.
the 4ws light issue, did a 4ws reset, seems to have sorted it, fingers crossed

also picked up some superlightweight locking nuts that matched up with my spoon nuts

before

after

i know the car is supposed to be go, not show, but the odd nut was doing my head in

ok well... as you may know... or may not

a few months back on a friday i was on my way to get some R888's fitted ready for RWYB on the saturday (thursday afternoon i had checked oil and all was looking satisfactory)
when after driving about 6miles my oil light flicked on, oh no i thought oil light works off pressure if that comes on its gotta be low and it was fine yesterday.
so i pulled over as soon as i could and checked the dipstick...
bone dry!
luckily i had some oil in the back of the car so i filled her up with about 1ltr
fired the car up and started to reverse off the carpark. noticed a puddle of oil from underneath the car so i got out to take a look.
from this puddle heading back to my car was a trail of oil... looked underneath to find the oil just running from the car, pretty much in less than a minute the whole 1ltr was back the the carpark.
bugger...
limped the car back home, it still drove fine, on closer inspection the balance shaft seal had popped out! coating all the belts and pretty much everything else in oil

so had to replace:
Timing belt kit
balance shaft belt kit
balance shaft seal kit & retainer
Auto Tensioner
Water Pump
swapped the alternator belt for the non. aircon version
so i can remove the aircon too

Car drives better than ever now tho, really pulls well
but its been SORN'd and stored away for over the winter now will bring it out again next year :)

Right
decided to start work on this again as its been sitting up doing nothing for months
quick charge of the battery and she fired up straight off

time to save some weight! 1st off aircon!

heres how she looked to begin

the aircon belt had already been removed when i had the balance shaft seal problem and had the cambelt changed

now after, all the pipework removed

removed 1 of the fans, gives just enough space to slide the pump out, damn that things heavy!

all the stuff removed on the floor

and pic from the front, without aircon rad and pipework

then as there was a small bit of light remaining we decided to quickly swap over the strut brace and fit a refurbed plug cover i had lying around

so now the spoon brace is on
