ok so after more debate ive sprayed the centre bar of the front bumper black.



jury is still out on the spoiler




cleaned the inside of me windows and fixed backbox leak with silencer putty. topped oil up so shes pretty cool at the min

spoilers getting sprayed red. needs it really, it looks too 'stuck on' in black.

also the centre strut of the bumper painted black stands out a bit so matched it to the bumper mouth

so my backbox has been blowing quite badly recently, decided to sort old texas pete with a box that doesnt leak. brought a bargain job off smoggy (cheers) but it was going to be an arse to fit. luckily a few months ago my main exhaust man phil took some near new magnaflow boxes of a big diesel audi. big bore through, small boxes, half decent tip. for the price he did me i couldnt say no. also sounds a little louder and very savage on wot... crazy how slight differences in backboxes change sound so much! anyway, looks like so. slashed cut look, but with insert and rolled inwards. not what id have chosen but great for the price!



also found out after a poke around while it was on the 4 poster, front springs have been cut, crank seal is weeping, chassis rails are starting to look old. cill rust is litterally bubbles, and touch wood, it seems fairly straight! little surface rust same as any other one, but meh, its all good for me

so today i changed the oil, put some brand spankin new KV85 magnecores on, BKR6EY NGK's and a fuel filter. took her up the Koswash for a £4 splash, took her home, dried and waxed and tire shined. productive day, long overdue

few months ago i was looking through google for a picture of texas pete from superted to use as my avatar, following the naming of my gti as texas pete. i stumbled across texas pete hot sauce, laughed, and promptly sent them a message cheekily asking for some stickers for shits and giggles. what turned up this morning?



the 4 smaller ones on the left are badges, they will be on a shirt very soon! however for york, shakeys and jae i am now part of.... Texas Pete Racing y0!!!

after a bargain purchase off corbs, i brought rowdys old daiyamas. didnt have Cspanners with them so i went and got some from tegiwa, tein copies which inevitably were useless. so first thing this morning i set about them, fronts were relatively easy. put one on the driver side, wasnt happy with the way the brake line clipped in so tried the other. no where near. back on with the first one. with both fitted, ride height level on the units although it looks uneven parked up, but meh. at this point raceworx had turned up to swap his rear bottom mounts for mine as he wants slammage, i dont. found out that the shocks appear shorter on gen 1 daiyamas and the springs are a smaller diameter on gen 1s. so strip the gti until the bottom shock bolts which were seized in true almera/texas pete fashion. so the rears are not fitted yet but im getting her tracked tomorrow anyway, and getting the rears done after my holiday by someone with more tools than me, and a 4 poster preferably

pro's - no bounce! drives lovely. think tracking will make it spot on although it drives as straiht as it did before, just hope somewhere can do it tomorrow as im not here next weekend... strange thing is that after a good drive out today, i thought it was feeling drifty, but as it happens i reckon that because its not leaning as much in corners it appears more solid even with lowering springs still on the rear and looking like its under heaving braking whilst stood still... winner...

cons - none bar already bashing my bumper and taking a chunk out the speed bump at the end of my road with my engine brace.
