Hi all,
Just thought you might want to know about the B20 build we are doing on my brothers Jordan. I will try and post as much detail as possible for anyone who would like to have a go them selves.
First started when we decided the B16a2 engine that comes as standard in the Jordan and Vti, although being a great strong engine with 160bhp (100bhp per liter) it does on the other hand lack in torque and dosn't really find its true potential untill 5000rpm plus with vtec engagement.
And as any real racer will tell you "BHP sells cars, Torque wins races"
So we first looked at putting a turbo kit on it to beef up the torque, but after pricing it all up it became very expensive.
Tubo kit including intercooler all pipes Fuel Components manifold/downpipe = £2000
Delivery from states = £100
Tuning and Mapping for 12PSI = £200 base 2PSI + £30 for each additional 2PSI's Total = £350
Float = £300 for additional bits and bobs.
Then additional to this, to handle the power.....new Drive shafts are required £300
Total = £3050 (pretty Pricey)
So we re-evaluted the situation and heard of a "Franistein" hybrid engine that the americans were going crazy about and thought we migh have a go. Estimated cost £1500 for a B20 Franky.
The Franky was out performing all the B16 turbos and costs less (nuff said).
To see one in action check this out:
Racing against a AWD 2 liter Turbo Eclipse GSX (not standard)
videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?fileid...amp;term=b20&p=0
By luck one of our mates drives an Integra type R and by luck he drives it badly. He drove through a big puddle with a long track induction kit (Cold Air) sucked up some water, caused a Hydrolic Lock in Cylinder #1 and blew the Con Rod out the side of the block.
So being a mate my brother he offered him some doller for the engine and gearbox.
As the block was damaged we took all internals/externals that were of use and scrapped it.
The head has been ported and polished, all valves polished and lapped into the Head.
The B20z Engine was bought from a 4x4 car breakers for a bargain £300 with only 10,000 mile on it.
The bottom end was stripped off, oil pump, water pump, Thermostat and Crank pulley were swapped for the Type R parts removed from the old block. Gearbox from the Type r was fitted with Hellical Slip Diff and a Toda Racing Flywheel and Clutch (already fitted to the engine we had off my mate).

As head bolts on the hondas are good, they are recommended to be changed everytime the Head is removed. As i cant see the engine working first we decided the need for better Head Stud kit.
AEBS head stud kit was bought off ebay for £80

This is pretty much where we have got to so far.
We still need to get the:
JE forged pistons
Eagle Con Rods
Eagle VTEC Conversion kit with Multi Dowle Pin Headgasket
300bhp rated Drive Shafts
Darton Sleeves (Still debated whether to re-sleeve the block or not)
If you got any questions just ask
Will post Pics soon of Block and Head
