Poorly Rex!! was created by Arnie
Well, after nearly a fortnight of dodging the weather to get her clay barred and polished, I had a disappointing drive yesterday, due to time constraints and lack of fuel. Today, I had neither problem but barely get three miles from home before having to turn back!! It seems that she has gone into "limp" mode, and will run fine off boost, but as soon as I give it any load she refuses to rev, splutters and stutters and backfires like a bitch!!! A couple of peeps on Mazda Rotary club reckon it could be the plugs, so I'll be removing and inspecting them tomorrow, if it's not them then it could be a split vac line in the "rats nest"!!!! I've also spoke to Pip at WGT who does all the servicing and repairs on her, he thinks it's most likely a sensor gone down somewhere. He's got to find it the old fashioned way due to the aftermarket ECU being virtually unreadable by anyone except the manufacturer!! The joys of owning a modified Jap car eh!!

You can't beat a good Wankel!!!

Well, I've removed, checked and cleaned the plugs and leads today to make sure it's nothing stupidly simple that will make me look like a twat when she goes to WGT. A bit corroded, slightly coked up, but nothing you wouldn't really expect!! Cleaned them up and put them all back in and went for a quick spin and......... just the same!:( Looks like it's either a vac hose problem or a sensor gone down somewhere. She's booked in at WGT so will find out in a couple of weeks!! Fingers crossed it's nothing too major. Mind you, it might be the excuse I'm looking for to have the engine rebuilt and a few choice mods at the same time!!! :woohoo:

Right. It's the oil metering pump!! As mine runs a Knightsport ECU, it puts her in limp mode, as opposed to an Apexi which will make you aware of it but let you still drive it!! You just have to put oil in the fuel without it working. A new one is circa £1500!! Pip thinks he has one somewhere or will be able to get one for me second hand. Much cheaper!!!! Failing that, it would be cheaper for me to get an Apexi, remap, and shares in BP!! Hopefully be sorted in a couple of weeks so I can finally take her for a "spirited drive"!!!!:cheer:
