Our "discussion" about the aricraft in the transformers movie, specifically the AC-130.

Techinically we are both correct, while the AC-130 is based on the C-130 Hercules, IT IS NOT designated Hercules. The Hercules is a Variant of the C-130 Airframe, Rather than the C-130 Airframe being a Hercules, if that makes sence.

Technically speaking there are 2 "AC" variants currently in service....

AC-130H Spectre (The H Does't stand for Hercules, the Last letter refers to armaments)

AC-130U Spooky


I was wrong about the size difference obviously, but like i said above the AC-130 is not called the Hercules

Tony is correct C-130 airframes are cargo...........and are known as "Hercules"

Yeah Jim looked it up after you went, I did admit to not being wholly right, curse you!
I think the article said they were built by lockheed first, then sent to boeing for conversion into gunships.
As you say I was right about it being a C-130 variant, and hercules also being a C-130, but I made the mistake that ALL C-130s were called hercules.... if that makes sense?

lol, yeah like i said we were both technically correct, on certain aspects.

i leave you alone for 1 weekend and you talk about aeroplanes. pah.
