The seven wonders of the world,

There as only ever been one recognised list of wonders, which was compiled way back in 600-700 bc (When only 2 or 3 of the wonders were finished, and the others were under construction).

The original list of wonders, the wonders were only scattered very closely together, and only encompassing 4 different countries: Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Iraq.

The list is as follows –

1.Great pyramid of giza (Egypt)
2. Hanging gardens of Babylon (Jim, these are in Iraq near Jerusalem, not Norway)
3. Temple of artemis (Turkey)
4. Statue of Zeus at Olympia (Greece)
5. Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus (Turkey)
6. Colossus of Rhodes (Turkey)
7. Lighthouse of Alexandria (Egypt)

The famous landmarks such as The Great wall of China, The Grand Canyon, The Great Barrier Reef, The Galapagos Islands, Niagara Falls etc are on lists of wonders but not recognised lists.

Due to the fact that 5 of these have been utterly destroyed by earthquake, fire, collapse, and time not being kind on the other 2, and the fact that (As stated before) the original seven where very close together, a new offical list is currently being created which will probably include features from the Americas, Asia, Africa etc.
