91 gto wont start

hi my 91 n/a gto wont start when turn on ign make the usual clicking noise and all ign lights come on as they should but when turn key to start car does not turn over ign lights dim but does nothing else have fitted new heavy duty battery but still the same any suggestions would be a great help .

Sounds like the Starter motor to me. Is in a manual or auto box? If it is manual try putting it in gear and taking the handbrake off, let the car move slightly and come to a rest. Put it back in neutral and try again. Failing that, give the starter motor a whack with a small hammer, not too hard but hard enough to free it if it's sticking!

hi thanks its a manual have tried putting in gear and rocking to free starter and tapping with hammer but made no difference am having alarm /immobilizer removed next week so go from there many thanks for reply

Okmate no worries. Could be the immobiliser then, hope you get it sorted! Maybe bring it to a meet sometime??
