Right, i've been thinking about changing my gearbox on the GT4, and i have 4 options, Apart from have a custom one made.

Firstly, Cheapest of all. Keep the one i've got.

Secondly, Change to a CS/RC one. There are a few advantages.. Namely, Stronger Syncros, Shorter First and Second Gear, Longer final drive.

G/Box E150F (Mine) ____________ G/Box E151F (CS/RC)

1st. 3.384 ____________________ 1st. 3.583
2nd. 1.913 ____________________ 2nd. 2.045
3rd. 1.333 ____________________ 3rd. 1.333
4th. 0.972 ____________________ 4th. 0.972
5th. 0.731 ____________________ 5th. 0.731

Final Drive - 4.285 ______________ Final Drive - 3.933

Thirdly, Change to a ST205 Gear Box, Stronger Syncros, Longer 3rd and 4th Gears, but vertually the same as mine, and no stronger than the CS/RC.

Forthly, Try and locate a E152F Gear Box out of the Group A Rally, Bearing in mind that there was only 100 ever made, and only in Japan. I don't think i'll find one.

I going to discuss this with steve, but i just wondered what you guys think.

Dude......Custom gear box will be mega-bucks.......How often you gonna drag it...!!!......think you may be wise to find out how much your original box will take in real world terms........longer 3rd on the 205 box should pay dividends,so swapping to a 205 box may be a good choice..........:)

personally id keep your box til if/when it blows up. then id be trying a 205 box, like the G says it would help, as it might mean less gear changes on the strip....

Yeah, i think i will keep the one iv'e got, if it does give up, there are plenty about rangeing from £200 - £450 (Model & Miles).

Mr G, a custom box was never going to be considered, for what i'm going to be putting out the standard one should be fine. If i was going for fensport times and power, then yes, but until i break 650bhp i should be good.

Thanks for the responses guys

Tony
