Whilst having my new tyres, I noticed that the top mounts on my front dampers are looking slightly worse for wear. In fact, the nearside appears to be split across one side!! Now the quandry is that the Tein dampers fitted are an old and no longer available model, so do I try and replace the top mounts, or do I remove and try and sell the existing suspension and replace it with a new set?? The set fitted is a track setup which I don't really need at the moment, but, in the future when I've had the inevitable rebuild, I may be tempted to track the car!!

....Up to you really dude.....but i had a car with race/drift suspension, and i found it way too hard and jittery for the road.......if you are going to run a dedicated track car that's anothether story, but if it was me,i would stick with a suspension system uprated, but more road/sport orientated......

Forgive me if i'm completely wrong, now i'm not sure how it works on a rex but can you not fit a standard top mount to the uprated suspension? Keeping the suspension but solving your problem?

Relly not sure to be honest!! I'll investigate further and decide what to do. I can get the Tein top mounts but not sure if the ones fitted are standard or aftermarket. I reckon the standard top mounts will be easy enough to get hold of if needs be!

Unless it's an adjustable coilover unit it should be possible, lowered springs are made to fit standard shocks and vice versa.

Just thought I'd ressurect this thread. The top mounts from Tein are pilllowball top mounts, the ones on the Rex are standard. If I replace the standard ones with the pillowball ones, will Ineed to get my suspension re-aligned??

Not 100% sure but think there will be a difference due to the fact they are adjustable to start with.....so setting mat be an option......

I thought that may be the case. As it happens I'm struggling to get either at the minute!! Mazda are struggling to find the part number and have had to contact Mazda Japan, and the pillowball mounts for my coilovers are discontinued!! Tein say they can have a pair specially made but it's gonna cost me a fortune. They've had to email Tein Japan for a price. Just waiting on both of them to get back to me with how much it will cost! I can see a new set of coilovers coming on!!

Well, after weeks of phone calls and emails, I've finally managed to get some top mounts sorted! Tein are making me a pair on special order. It's gonna take approx four weeks to get them made, and a further six to eight weeks to get them shipped over!! Costing me over £360 but it's half the price of a full coilover set which was my only other option! Just means the Rex is off the road, again!! Missed summer last year due to problems, missing JAE this year!! Seriously thinking of getting rid as it's just gobbling up money and giving nothing in return at the moment!

Recieved them today. Quick question for those a bit more knowledgeable than myself. The small metal bush/collar, does that slide over the top of the strut and into the mount from the bottom, or does it go in from the top?? Might sound thick but I honestly have no idea. Didn't get a fitting guide and can't find one on tinternet!!!
Cheers for your time!!

Seems like it's a redundant exercise now!! Had them specially made at nearly £400 to fit my coilovers, which are now discontinued. I set about fitting them today to discover that my O/S damper is knackered anyway!! The alloy has split around the bush where it's connected to the lower arm. Completely come away and is now only held in place by the bush itself!!! F###ing cars!!!
